Class Debate: Digital Music

The topic for the debate in class is as follows:

All coercive forms of preventing the free circulation of music, whether by technological or legal means, should be banned and payment for music should be restricted to either voluntary contributions directly to artists or payment for other services (i.e. live performances.)

The format is as follows:

1) Opening statements (2-3 minutes)

2) First question round: Artists (2 minutes)

Responses from Industry and Consumers; rebuttal from artists. (2 minutes each.)

3) Second question round: Consumers

Responses from Industry and Artists; rebuttal from consumers. (2 minutes each.)

4) Third question round: Industry

Responses from Artists and Consumers; rebuttal from industry. (2 minutes each.)
